It looks like after market handguards and stocks will fit on this stamped ddi. I passed this one up thinking they were using a different hand guard retainer. I wanted to put that Alfa rail on this like you got. Rob did you modify anything to get that hand guard on and that stock adapter? I passed on this yesterday and ordered the ak103u from Atlantic firearms. $$$$$$$ shit! I wish I waited and seen this video.

Stock adapter requires no mods, but handguard was modified. Don’t kick yourself Ak103u is a nice rifle.

Hey Rob awesome vid. It led me to check some of your other videos, including the ones about the zenit rail systems, do you know if they will fit a c39 v2? Just curious. Keep up the good work! Thanks.

Just picked mine up from my FFL, fit and finish is amazing…. Until I got to the front sight, it has a very noticeable cant to the left. We’ll see what a trip to the range yields. Already sent pictures along to Atlantic.

I was going to take it to the range because if it shoots straight I’m happy, so I was adding my choice accessories and the rifle fell over (on carpet) and the cant was gone…. I lightly tapped it on the carpet and it reverted to its original left hand cant, tapped it again and the cant was gone…

It would appear my front sight base is loose.

Hey Rob I was wondering if the milled DDI held up as well during your testing as the stamped version did. For the price difference, I might make this my first milled rifle. Thanks. -Dale

Just an update. My rifle was sent to DDI for the loose/canted FSB, they received it Monday and had it back to me the following Monday. I was getting ready to hit the range again and while installing my muzzle device I noticed the front sight post drifted in one direction as if to adjust windage. Then I realized with very minimal finger pressure I could easily adjust windage back and forth. I sent video of this to Blaine at Atlantic Firearms and he immediately contacted DDI and insured me a full refund was underway. He also shared my lost faith in DDI and their QC and seemed himself upset by this. Maybe this was isolated, but two issues involving one area of the firearm? I can’t bet my life and my families life on that. It also gave an uneasiness about what else may be wrong that I couldn’t see.

Adam, this is very disappointing to hear. I’m glad that Atlantic Firearms took good care of you. If i will hear about 1 more case like this, we are going to take that golden crown away from them. I know it is symbolic, but I told them in our video that they have to prove to us that QC is #1 priority…

I agree 100% QC is number one. For anyone else about to purchase, I hope the best for them, and I hope they scrutinize their new weapon to ensure that it is what it’s sold as, a kalashnikov.

          Adam,
We screwed up, we own up to the mistake on that rifle and have added that step into our QC finial check. On behalf of DDI I apologize.

Glad to see you guys taking responsibility and hope to see greater success going forward.

I bought one of your rifles almost two weeks ago. I’ve since taken it to the range to put 40 rounds through it without a single malfunction, and with good accuracy. Overall, I’ve been impressed with the rifle. However, something I had not overlooked on initial inspection has brought me concern. The two forward rivets on the front trunnion, left side are not fully flush. Is this acceptable, or should I seek remedy in case of future issue?

I purchased the DDI stamped AK on last week based on the AK Operator’s Union’s excellent review and I could not possibly be happier.

The fit and finish of the rifle are flawless and disassembly proved that the rifle came ready to fire out of the box with no evidence of any sort of grit or debris inside and just the right amount of oil in all the right places.

An afternoon at the range revealed that the sights were right on and I encountered zero problems in the first 80 rounds. The fenocite finish just wipes clean and the KG Gunkote has a beautiful dark black color to it.

The other guys at the range were all equally impressed and had me feeling like a new dad. Two of them said they would be placing their orders post haste.

Thank you AKOU for all of your reviews and thank you DDI for putting out such a nice product.

I’m sorry for the delayed response brother.

I’ve only been to an indoor 25 yard range so far and was shooting 1.5 inch groups by resting the rifle on the magazine on top of the bench. This is my first long gun and I feel pretty good about that performance.

I just purchased a Midwest Industries side mount which is a very nice piece of engineering and my buddy gave me an inexpensive BSA 4x tactical scope. I hope to make it to the 100 yard range next week. I will be sure to post an update after that.

Do like me and get both! I actually got 2 WASR’s and have a DDI on the way. Both WASR’s function perfectly, though one is a lot more accurate than the other (1.5 – 2 MOA in one and 5 – 6 MOA in the other). I can’t figure out why… Rob’s WASR’s have all been about 3 MOA or less.

I purchased a stamped DDI 2 weeks ago, one of the rivets on the trigger guard has a gap and both rivets on that side of the trigger guard are not formed properly. The barrel pin hole has a millimeter gap between the hole and the barrel pin ( charging handle side of the rifle).Wasn’t too worried , I went and put 200 rounds down range. The front trunnion has 2 etching decently sized etching marks ( you can clearly see and feel that the bolt dug into the metal) and the upper right portion of the front trunnion started to sheer off. The corresponding parts on the bolt took a good beating as well ( clear marks of freshly shaven of metal). This kind of wear after only 200 rounds??? Their customer service said they don’t think they could do anything about my perception of the bolt / trunnion and that it is just the paint coming off…

I did, they told me to send back the rifle ( at my cost). That they would fix the rivets yet they also said that that would probably not be able to do anything about the bolt/ front trunnion and if I was still not satisfied by the ” surplus” parts they would arrange a refund. I am going to send in the rifle tomorrow. We will see what happens.

Is there a noticeable quality difference between a DDI 47 and the Arsenal SLR107? I’m planning on building from a base rifle. As far as AKs go i have only had my hands on my friends Century but was looking at arsenal and ddi for myself and wanted to know how they stack up.
