Hi Rob. I went to the range yesterday and shot over 600 rds to break in my AKV. I started with some left over 9mm American Steel and had two FTFs within ~70rds. I then started shooting some 147gr HSTs but my AKV will not chamber them reliably. Out of about 16 rds, I had three FTFs. In your opinion, do you think this is normal or would you send it back to PSA? I also had a Wolff high powered spring installed.

Shot 500rds of Winchester 124gr and the gun ran beautifully otherwise.

I would contact PSA man. Let’s hear from them on this. Could you please keep me in the loop on it?
Ps. was this Gen 1 or Gen 2 AKV?

Will do Rob! This was a Gen 2 AKV.

Hi Rob. I got my AKV back in. PSA said they polished the feed ramps and then shot 60rds without an issue. They also recommended that you pull and release the bolt to chamber hollow points vs using the bolt release button. Other than that, they gave me two free mags so I’m happy about that!

have the same problem on a gen2 AKV. polished the feed ramp extensively, compressed springs on mags (local gun shop recommendation). did better, but still occasionally failed to feed. the ramp leads to a lip on the barrel, and it seems like the bullet hits that and bounces up. with a spear tip, still feeds ok, but with wide/flat or hollow-tipped slugs, it catches on the upper lip of the barrel and gets stuck. other firearms have the ramp lead smoothly into the barrel, so I wonder if the lip of the barrel needs more than a little polish…
