That sucks. I hope nobody gets injured from this rifle. I see a lot of them for sale in the local stores. I got an email from psa regarding their new billet ak being available. Ill vote early for this one. Im anxious to see what a billet bolt will do to a cast carrier. Hey Rob I just baught a Krink and want to mount a light. I dont want to replace the handguards or use ultimak. Do you have any other ideas?

Io inc knows that they have an issue with the bolt career and recoil spring assembly. See review by Round guy gun reviews. He replaced them with Bulgarian surplus as have I. They are working on a difrent design and will send you new buffers, I have not seen them last more than 800-900 rounds. Keep up the good work.

Yeah. Thats an option. What I would like is a polymer upper handguard with a rail. Then I could mount it offset and only have it on at night. The krink heats up too quickly for the ultimak. Ill try a nylon velcro strap if nobody has a link for a polymer railed upper.

POS, I have two of these unfired. Sorry I voted to see if they were any good. I was told by a friend how nice the finish and wood was and that these were a great price. Bummer for me. Any recommendations of what quality ak’s are still available and where to get them that are $700?

Try to find a WASR ( good luck ) or grab a Vepr and with a small amount of mod work you can have a regular AKM pattern rifle.

Go with WASR10, I bought one two months ago for 650+local taxes, very nice rifle. I already have O-PAP with original wood furniture so thought I try something different with WASR, bought Magpul front handguard and added AFG, perfect! Then put Tapco collapsible stock on it, not sure if I like it but bought it new for 20 bucks from clearance sale so I give it a try. Now there is two WASRs at local gun shops but the price tag is 700+taxes…I’ve been trying to talk one of my friends to buy his first Ak and told that he should get the WASR.

Couple of days ago got rid of my RAS47, got 650 for it, same price minus taxes I bought it for over a year ago and somewhere between 500 to 1000rnds later(not sure..). Still think it was a decent rifle but already it was showing some signs of wear so it was time to get rid of it while it was still in ok shape.. But as we all know there is a rule that you need to have at least three AKs so…Found egyptian Maadi AK47 and it was a great deal. Had stupid (and loose) Tapco furniture on it and needs new gas tube although can be fired as is. Paid 400 for it. Couldn’t be happier with this deal, even has a muzzle brake on it. For now, I will stay away from usa made AKs and see whats happening.

      Rob,

What are you thoughts on the UltiMAK M1-B Optics Mount (I think) on that rifle? Is it a worthy addition to an AK or junk?

If you don’t have a side rail, use Ultimak. That’s we got them in the store too. http://shop.akoperatorsunionlocal4774.com/UltiMAK-AK-47-74-Forward-Optic-Mount-UltiMAK.htm If you have side rail, keep using side rail
