AK Iron Sights – User Guide to AK 47 (AKM) and AK 74 Iron Sights Video!
i noticed you have a aftermarket front sight post. I like my personal AK’s to have factory sights, but I have been curious about trying different front sight post. I’m hitting 5moa with factory sights at 100yrds, and I wonder if a finer front sight might help tighten my group. I know you’ve talked about the rear sight not necessary for change, but what do you think about trying different front?
This is KNS sight (.52 size). I’m still experimenting with it. I think it boils down what is more comfortable for you…but, i can shoot around 2 MOA with irons. However, remember that shooting for groups is rather different from “action” shooting.
Rob, here and in another post you have sang the praise of the kns .052 ball front sight post. Mine came in the mail today and I’m curious about it’s durability. Are you still running this post, has it held up with it’s thin nature? I believe it will help a lot with sight picture on longer shots but I want to know I can trust it not to break. Thanks
Yes, it is still on my 2 rifles (Wasr and DAKM). You have to be more careful with it, but those front sight ears do the good job protecting it. But if rifle will dive barrel first into the ground, it may take a beating.
Thanks for the quick reply. Did the post go thru the grinder?
On one of the rifles, i think it was DAKM 4150n
Just a follow up. If anyone has a question on whether to try the kns .052 ball front sight post, just do it. It provides a much better sight picture at distance. I was easily ringing a 4″ steel plate at 100 meters. Thanks for the tip Rob! Pretty sure all my ak’s will get treated to this sight post and ALG AKT triggers.
